The Seibu Group’s Environmental Policy

The Seibu Group created this Policy for the purpose of facilitating the efforts of individual companies of the Seibu Group to realize the Group Vision and contributing to solving major issues faced by society by promoting proactive, concrete and organized initiatives addressing environmental issues, identified in materiality as actions on sustainability.

1. Mitigating climate change by reducing greenhouse gases, among other initiatives

The Seibu Group strives to reduce the emission of climate-change causing greenhouse gases through actively adopting energy-saving facilities and vehicles, and devising their smart operation, as well as by utilizing renewable energy.

2. Contributing to a society modeled on a circular economy by reducing waste and effective use of resources

The Seibu Group strives to contribute to a society modeled on a circular economy by reducing resource inputs and reducing waste by reusing, recycling, etc. When choosing resource inputs, we promote the use of those that are environmentally friendly. Our aim through these efforts is to reduce or avoid environmental impacts.

3. Ensuring safe water supply

The Seibu Group strives to reduce the amount of water consumption through recognizing the essential nature of water resources on which all life depends. In addition to our efforts to protect water sources in our business areas, we are also carrying out initiatives for wastewater treatment, aimed at preventing pollution, and striving to ensure safe water supply.

4. Conserving forests and biodiversity

The Seibu Group strives to promote forest conservation by protecting forests, particularly those along our railway lines and in our business areas, and actively taking part in activities to increase them. We also contribute to biodiversity by protecting the natural habitat of living creatures. Furthermore, we work to avoid or minimize negative impacts and maximize the spread of positive impacts in order to achieve our nature positive concept.

5. Coexisting with local communities and other stakeholders

The Seibu Group actively communicates with local business operators, our suppliers (business partners), and other stakeholders in order to promote various environmental efforts.

6. Complying with environmental laws and raising awareness of environmental conservation

The Seibu Group strives to be a messenger and educator for our employees and suppliers on environmental matters, not only to ensure compliance with environmental laws affecting each business but also to raise awareness of environmental conservation.

7. Establishment and continuous improvement of environmental targets

The Seibu Group strives to steadily promote environmental activities by setting environmental targets, and continuously reviewing and improving our environmental activities so that these targets are properly managed.
