What is Hakone?
Situated on the southwestern side of Kanagawa Prefecture, Hakone developed as a mountain town surrounded by abundant nature around Lake Ashinoko known as a caldera lake. It is a popular onsen resort area in the suburbs of Tokyo. Its excellent location offers one of the best views of Mt. Fuji in Japan.

From Odawara
●Izuhakone Bus
From Bus Stop No. 5 at East Exit of Odawara Sta., get on the Z route bus headed to Hakone Sekisho-ato or Hakone-machi, or the U route bus headed to Hakone-en. Approx. 50 minutes to the “Motohakone” bus stop.
●Hakone Tozan Bus
From Bus Stop No. 3 at East Exit of Odawara Sta., get on the H route bus headed to Motohakone-ko(Port) or Hakone-machi-ko(Port). Approx. 50 minutes to the “Motohakone-ko(Port)” bus stop.
* Buses of both routes stop at Hakone-Yumoto Sta.
From Atami
●Izuhakone Bus
From Bus Stop No. 2 of Atami Sta., get on the Atami Hakone route bus headed to either Hakone Sekisho-ato, Motohakone, or Hakone-en. Approx. 1 hour to the “Hakone Sekisho-ato” bus stop.
From Gotemba
●Odakyu Hakone Highway Bus
From Otomeguchi Exit of Gotemba Sta., get on the Hakone route bus. Approx. 2 hours and 35 minutes to the “Hakone-en” bus stop.

Convenient Hakone Transportation Pass
The transportation pass is convenient for getting around Hakone. Foreign visitors can purchase a cute ticket made of wood (a paper ticket can also be purchased). It is a two-day, all-you-can-ride ticket for the Hakone Komagatake Ropeway, Hakone Ashinoko (Lake Ashi) Boat Cruise, Izuhakone Bus on designated sections between Hakone Station and Odawara, Atami, Yugawara, and Manazuru Stations, and more.
