754-5 Uchiike, Hino-cho, Gamo-gun, Shiga Prefecture
The station was established in 1900 for the opening of the line from Yokaichi to Hino.
The elegant wooden building was restored in 2019 with the support of the local Hino-cho community.
The building houses Nanairo, a facility promoting tourism and community exchange that operates a café with a menu of daily specials, as well as a separate tourist information counter.
This is a passing station with two side platforms and three tracks, there being a central track between the two tracks serving the two directions. The difference in the way the tracks are laid points to the station’s history.
Beside one of the station’s platforms is the Hino Station Railway Museum containing a display of railway-related materials and exhibits focusing on the history of Hino Station, while on the opposite platform is displayed a transporter that was formerly used on the Ohmi Railway for moving freight cars.
