This aquarium has an unbeatably scenic location with direct views of Suruga Bay and Mount Fuji. As well as impressive shows with dolphins, seals, sea lions, and other animals, visitors can enjoy a display of some 300 species of fish. In the past, we have arranged scenes where, for instance, a television personality is filmed giving the signal to make the dolphins jump during a show. Opened following a refurbishment in 1977, this is a nostalgically old-fashioned provincial aquarium where visitors encounter the animals at close quarters. The exhibits include sea creatures from Suruga Bay, which is Japan’s deepest, a display of otherworldly jellyfish, and a collection of sweetfish, trout, and other freshwater fish.
