This exercise park is one of the health parks laid out to mark the 60th year of the Emperor Showa’s reign and occupies a site vacated by the relocation of Yokohama National University. Its facilities include a gymnasium, heated indoor swimming pool, baseball field, and tennis courts.
The richly verdant space serves as a setting for walking and recreation, while the iconic Japanese hackberry tree on the lookout point is a much loved landmark.
The park achieved popular recognition when it was featured by Yuzu, a folk duo from Yokohama, on the cover photo and music video for the release of their third single, Karappo (1999).
It has been used as a location in movies, TV dramas, commercials, and many other media.
