Yokosuka City offers unique sights as the home of a U.S. Navy base and the Yokosuka Base of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. From the park, visitors can watch submarines, patrol ships, missile boats, and other military vessels.
Laid out in the French garden style, the park is noted for its collection of around 1,300 rose bushes and boasts a fountain decorated with floral art made with roses. Within the park grounds is the Thibaudier Residence, a modern heritage museum that opened in 2021 in a recreation of the official residence of the assistant superintendent of the Yokosuka Arsenal, which was once the oldest western-style building on Honshu.
